Young Beauty Disappears in Vatican City

From Wikipedia:  Emanuela Orlandi (born 14 January 1968) was a citizen of Vatican City, who mysteriously disappeared on 22 June 1983. In May 2012, Father Gabriele Amorth claimed that she was kidnapped by the Vatican police for sex parties, and later murdered. Amorth claims that the incident also involved the officials of an unnamed foreign embassy  Orlandi, then 15 years old, vanished on 22 June 1983. She was in her second year at a liceo scientifico (a scientific high school) in Rome. Although the school year had concluded, she continued to take flute lessons three times per week at the Tommaso Ludovico Da Victoria School, connected with the Pontificium Institutum Musicæ Sacræ (The Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music). She was also part of the choir of Saint Anne’s Church. Orlandi, the daughter of a Vatican bank employee who lived with her family inside Vatican city, just across the river from the Basilica, was the fourth of Ercole and Maria Orlandi's five children.  She usually travelled by bus to the music school. She would get off the bus after a few stops and then walk six or seven hundred feet (180 to 210 meters). What is known for certain is that on Wednesday, 22 June 1983, she was late to class. She later explained her lateness in a phone call to her sister, during which she said she had a job offer from a representative of Avon Cosmetics. Her sister suggested she talk it over with their parents before making any decisions. Emanuela allegedly met with the Avon rep shortly before her music lesson. At the end of the lesson, Emanuela spoke of the job offer with a girlfriend, who then left the girl at a bus stop in the company of another girl. Emanuela was allegedly last seen getting into a large, dark-colored BMW  At 15:00, Thursday, 23 June, her parents called the director of the music school to ask if any of their daughter's classmates had information. The police had suggested waiting because "perhaps the girl was with friends". That same day Emanuela was officially declared a "missing person". Over the next two days announcements of the disappearance were published with the telephone number of the Orlandi house in the newspapers Il Tempo, Paese della Sera and Il Messaggero. At 18:00 on Saturday, 25 June, a phone call was received from a youth who claimed to be a 16 year old boy named "Pierluigi". He reported that together with his fiancée, he had met the missing girl in Piazza Navona that afternoon.  The young man mentioned Emanuela’s flute, her hair, and the glasses that the girl did not like to wear, along with other details that fitted the missing girl. According to "Pierluigi", Emanuela had just had a haircut and had introduced herself as "Barbarella". He claimed she stated that she had just run away from home and was selling Avon products. On 28 June, a man calling himself "Mario" called the family and claimed to own a bar near Ponte Vittorio, between the Vatican and the Music School. The man said that a girl called "Barbara", a new customer, had confided to him about being a fugitive from home but said that she would return home for her sister's wedding. On 30 June, Rome was plastered with 3,000 posters with Emanuela Orlandi's photograph  On Sunday, 3 July, Pope John Paul II, during the Angelus, appealed to those responsible for Emanuela Orlandi’s disappearance, making the hypothesis of kidnapping official for the first time. Two days later, the Orlandi family received the first of a number of anonymous phone calls. Emanuela was supposedly the prisoner of a terrorist group demanding the release of Mehmet Ali Ağca, the Turkish man who shot the Pope in Saint Peter's Square on 13 May 1981. No other information was given. In the following days, other calls were received, including one from a man identified as "The American", due to his apparent accent, who played a recording of Emanuela's voice over the phone. A few hours later, in another phone call to the Vatican, the same man suggested an exchange between Orlandi and Alì Ağca.  The anonymous interlocutor mentioned the "Mario" and "Pierluigi" of the earlier telephone calls, defining them as members of the organization. On 6 July, a man with a young voice and an American accent informed ANSA news agency of the demand for an Orlandi-Ağca exchange, asking for the Pope’s participation within 20 days and indicating that a basket in the public square near the Parliament would contain proof that Orlandi was indeed in his hands. These were to have been photocopies of her Music School I.D., a receipt, and a note hand-written by the kidnapped girl. However, the Magistrate who was overseeing Orlandi’s case did not believe that there was a credible connection between the Orlandi abduction and the Pope's assailant. On 8 July, a man with an alleged Middle Eastern accent phoned one of Orlandi's classmates saying she was in his hands and that they had 20 days to make the exchange with Alì Ağca. The man also asked for a direct telephone line with the then Secretary of the Vatican State, Agostino Casaroli. The line was installed on 18 July. A total of 16 telephone calls were made by "The American" from different public telephone booths  Ağca, who once declared that Orlandi had been kidnapped by Bulgarian agents of the Grey Wolves of which Ağca was a member, spoke about Orlandi during a prison interview with Italy's RAI state television, telling the interviewer that the girl was alive, not in danger, and living in a cloistered convent. He denied any direct knowledge of the girl's fate, though, saying that he had made "some logical deductions". With no evidence to support these claims, the case was closed in July 1997. In mid-2000, Judge Ferdinando Imposimato, based on what he had learned about the Grey Wolves, a far-right Turkish group, declared that Orlandi, by then an adult, was living a perfectly integrated life in the Muslim community and that she had probably lived for a long time in Paris. He remains the only supporter of this idea and of the Orlandi-Ağca connection. In a letter published in 2006, Ağca claimed that Emanuela Orlandi and another girl, Mirella Gregori, both of whom vanished in 1983, were abducted as part of plan to secure his release from prison. He claimed that the girls were whisked away to a royal palace in Liechtenstein. Ağca was temporarily released from an Istanbul prison after serving 25 years in Italy and Turkey for the murder of Abdi İpekçi, a prominent Turkish journalist. However, he was quickly imprisoned again, the release seemingly a "mistake". Ağca was permanently released from a Turkish prison in January 2010  On 9 November 2010, Mehmet Ali Ağca was interviewed by the state television in Turkey-TRT's Kozmik Oda Program for the first time after his release in January 2010. In that interview as well as declaring that the Vatican organized the assassination attempt he also said that Orlandi was kept as a prisoner by the Vatican (for Ağca) and is now living in a Central European country as a nun in a Catholic Monastery. He added that Orlandi's family was seeing their daughter whenever they like but she was not allowed to leave that monastery.  On the morning of 14 May 2001, the parish priest of the Gregory VII Church near the Vatican discovered a human skull of small dimensions and lacking a jaw in a bag with an image of Padre Pio in a confessional. Ercole Orlandi, Emanuela's father, died in 2004, one month after giving his last interview. Sightings of Emanuela in various places have been reported over the years, even inside Vatican City, but all have been unreliable. The Orlandi case is still unsolved. On 14 May 2012, Italian police exhumed the body of gangster Enrico De Pedis having received a tip-off that the tomb contained clues as to the fate of Emanuela.  ******* I had never heard of this case even though this girl went missing over 25 years ago. I read an update on it on the Huffington Post and was captivated. The details of the mystery are shocking and completely mysterious. What really grabs me are all these claims about what happened to this girl! Sex parties and terrorist organizations, blackmail and kidnapping, totally outrageous and scintillating claims. It kind of makes me think the Italians get a little nuts over sex and death and get a little carried away with lurid rumors some of the time. Most of this sounds like tall tales to me but then so did the stories about Amanda Knox. I must admit that there are still people who believe what was said about "Foxy Knoxy", as wild as all of it sounded. I guess lurid stories seem too "tabloid" to me to be real or maybe, in truth, I am just naive. Or perhaps the Italians do tend to get carried away. So you must know that I could not resist doing the charts on this case! I am just so darned curious about what really happened to this child. Was she kidnapped or did she run away? Was she a sex slave or a businesswoman? Anything seemed possible.  There is always the possibility that this girl just ran away from home and changed her identity, as compelling testimony claims. The witnesses who claimed to have seen her had information they could not have if they had not spoken to her. Such as selling Avon products, for instance and the flute she was carrying, etc.. All of this testimony conspires to make me think these people were telling the truth. This girl simply ran off, changed her identity and never resurfaced. However, with claims from inside the Vatican that the girl was kidnapped for sex parties coupled with the ongoing claims of the "Grey Wolves" that they had her, replete with recordings of her voice and claims that the credible witnesses were members of their group .. the plot just keeps getting thicker. This group, the Grey Wolves, spent weeks trying to make a deal to trade this girl, supposedly in their possession, for the release of one of their "comrades", a terrorist in the possession of the Italian authorities. Thank God not too many missing kids end up being used to such extremes. Imagine terrorists stealing our children and trying to extort our government? It's a scary thought.  So was she taken by the terrorist group and used as blackmail? Or was she sold privately for Vatican sex parties? Or did she simply run off on her own and perhaps even leave Italy? All of these stories are supported by various claims. I ended up doing charts for many different times and dates, attempting to peg the disappearance to a single event. However, there is no "time last seen" on record. She was said to have gotten off the bus sometime in the afternoon of June 22, 1983 and gotten in a dark BMW. This from another student who rode with her on the bus and knew the girl personally. So this girl seems like a credible witness to me. I ran charts for June 22, from noon until 5 pm to pinpoint a time when I could see her moving from the bus to the car. This is a standout event that can be isolated in a forensic chart. I started at noon because she had been both to a meeting about a job, also to class (although late) and had been on a bus ride. Noon is a good guess for the time frame. It might have been earlier but it seemed unlikely.   

In the chart for noon, you can see the first house ruler is Mercury, which is the traditional ruler for children. This planet is in the ninth house, perhaps showing us the school. It is very probable that she was in school at noon. Mercury disposes of itself so her entire purpose at this time is to study, perhaps, and she is not meeting with anyone else in particular. Since it appears that she has just arrived at school (Mercury just entering the ninth from the tenth), I am assuming she has already had her meeting about the job. The chart co ruler, the Moon, is in the third house with the fourth house ruler, Jupiter. This is the transit system in the neighboring area. This is the bus she took back and forth. The aspect that most interests me in this chart is the seventh house ruler in the fourth. This shows someone she is about to meet and this person is nearby, in the same area. The distance between Neptune and Jupiter is about 24 degrees, which helps us tell how far this person was from the girls home at the time. And the presence of the ninth house ruler in her first house tells us she was traveling in a vehicle she did not own while the seventh house ruler is in the ninth house, putting this person in their own vehicle (ninth house is the third from the seventh). So someone came along in their own car and she went with that person in that car. This dovetails with the testimony of her friend.

The third house ruler, which marks the transit system, has just left the first house for the twelfth, showing us a distance between Emanuela and the bus, which has just left her. The fourth house ruler, Uranus, is in her first house, also telling us that where she got off that bus is not far from her own home and is definitely in her own neighborhood. She gets off the bus and gets into a car, or so it seems. Let's see if we can verify the type of car and the color. We are told it was a large sized, dark colored BMW. Venus in Leo, the seventh house ruler, is in the ninth house disposed of by the Sun in Cancer with Cancer on the ninth house cusp. The car was supposedly a dark colored BMW. Venus in Leo would describe a flashy, stylish car which does describe a BMW. It's the kind of car wealthy people drive to show off. Leo gives a red or green color; Cancer gives a green or brownish red color; Sun and Venus, blended, give an Olive color. I am pretty sure the BMW was a dark olive green color and the Sun and Venus together do not describe a tiny or small car so it can be assumed it was not a compact BMW. So the charts seem to work on these details.  

Notice the cluster of planets in the eighth house in the chart for 4:30 pm. In the eighth house, there is the sixth house ruler, Mars, along with the tenth house ruler, the Sun, also the eighth house ruler, Mercury, and the Node. The Node and Mars are conjoined. Mars also rules the first house. Although the sixth house is hardly ever considered in a forensic chart, except where an angular ruler is in the sixth or the sixth house ruler is in the angles.. in this case we know that the girl had said she had a job offer. This makes the conjunction to the Node in the eighth house seem more important. Could it be that the job offer was a ruse? That there was a plan (the Node) behind it? The fact that the sixth house ruler also rules the first is interesting. It makes it seem to me that this girl was targeted; that they offered her the job for a reason. It also verifies that the job offer was on her mind and that she had a job interview that day. So this much of the story is not a lie.   

There are other standout markers for me in this chart. Notice that the Mars-Node conjunction in the eighth house is directly opposite Neptune in the second house and that Neptune rules the fifth house. This seems like maybe sex was, indeed, a part of this plan. Sex for money to be exact. Neptune is disposed of by Jupiter, also in the first house, which again makes it look like this child was targeted. Jupiter rules the second house, conjoined Uranus, which rules the fourth, opposite Mercury, which rules the eighth (and, in general, all children), and all of these placements in good aspect to the seventh house ruler, Venus in Leo, I would guess that this was a neighborhood sex ring that involved some local celebrities. Normally this would seem like a strange evaluation but this was in Vatican City and there were many "celebrities" associated with the Catholic Church in that area at that time and to this day as well. So the story the Priest has given seems possible now. But I cannot say for sure, simply from this chart, that this is exactly what happened to Emanuela. The chart for 6:30 pm shows that she was taken somewhere and hidden. This is shown by the first house ruler, Jupiter, in the twelfth house. There is no death pattern so she is still alive at this hour but the twelfth house shows us someplace dark and secret. The fourth house ruler is Neptune, so this is a hidden place, but it is placed in the first house, showing us, again, that this place is not far from where the girl had spent a lot of her time, and possibly near to where she had lived with her family. This combination with the seventh house ruler, Mercury, right at the seventh house cusp, makes me think that these people were from the same neighborhood as the girl and had targeted her after watching her for awhile. The place they took her to and hid her was not far from the family home. All of this occurred in a small area of the city. Although there is no death pattern, yet, the placements in this chart are lining up. The eighth house ruler and the fourth house ruler are both traveling through the first, moving towards the twelfth and this with the first house ruler in the twelfth. I do not believe they planned on keeping her alive for long.   

In the chart for 9 pm you can see that the first house ruler, now Saturn, has moved into the ninth house with Pluto, which rules the angular tenth. The seventh house ruler, also the chart co ruler, the Moon, has moved into the eleventh house, directly opposed to Mercury in the eleventh. Mercury, remember, is the traditional marker for children. This appears to put them in a church or university. This is especially described by Pluto, which rules the tenth house and represents a place of power and authority. Emanuela was, no doubt, greatly intimidated. Both Saturn and Pluto are disposed of by Venus in the eighth, which implies, once again, a sexual connection. This one, for women (Venus) or girls. Venus, in turn, rules the fifth house, the house of romance and sexual attraction. She was taken because they were looking for girls. Combined with Mercury in the fifth opposing the Moon in the eleventh, she was most likely assaulted in this place, this church or university. Since this was in Vatican City, it probably was a Catholic church or university.

If it was the Vatican police, as the Priest now claims, they had her in "custody" (Saturn conjoined Pluto). But I do not believe that they hurt this girl, at least not at this time. You can see that Saturn, which rules the first, is trine to Mars, which co rules the tenth. Also, looking at the fourth house ruler, Venus, in the eighth house along with the Moon in the eleventh trine to Venus, I would venture to guess that this was whorehouse. Women were kept her for sex. This is exactly how this reads and now I am leaning towards favoring her abduction by the Vatican police for sex parties, as claimed by the Priest currently. Pluto in this chart can also point to terrorists, though, so that cannot be forgotten. But the position of Pluto in the ninth house with Neptune in the twelfth directly opposing Mars, it is possible that the terrorist group knew about her abduction by the Vatican police and was blackmailing them by offering to trade her for a comrade in their custody. This might make sense in this world of intrigue.   

In the charts for 10 pm and 11 pm, which you can see below, there are signs of ongoing sexual activity. Angular planets traversing through the fifth, eighth and tenth houses with no signs of death patterns or violence. With the first house ruler in the ninth house until after 10 pm, I would guess she was still in this place, this church or university where she had been taken. To me, this clue fingers a church near to her home, one that perhaps she had even attended. Although I am sure there are churches in the Vatican city and that they all are Catholic, I would assume that they are all not in one cluster or only on the Vatican grounds. I am not knowledgeable of this so I am just assuming and I might be wrong. If this is the case and the area is so small that the Vatican grounds present the only churches to the area, then this is where she was taken. It's hard to imagine such a thing but this is what it would have to be if there are no neighborhood churches in that city.

In the consideration of the fixed stars on this date, I will point out a few placements that prove to be curious. The fixed star, Al Hecka, sits right between Mercury and the Node. Mercury is the traditional marker for children and Al Hecka is a descriptor for pedophilia and sexual perversion. This seems to indicate that Emanuela was taken because she was a child. I wonder if other children had disappeared in Vatican City during this period of time? Also in the chart is the conjunction of the fixed star, Hoedus, to Mercury. Hoedus is a traditional descriptor for lascivious behavior and rape. Bellatrix is also nearby and this star marks, as well, lust and rape. These markers are all the more important because these aspects occur while the planets are in the fifth house. Another marker worth pointing out is the conjunction of Neptune in Sagittarius to the fixed star, Sinistra, which describes "obsessive, wanton lust and sexual attack". This would be of importance in this chart when Neptune crossed the Ascendant between 7:30 and 8:00 pm on the day she was abducted. And then, to top this off, the Moon is sinister to a conjunction with the fixed star, Ras Algethi, which often indicates a devious plot. This again seems to indicate that Emanuela was targeted or chosen.


The next thing I could not resist was drawing up this girl's birth chart and comparing it to the event. It is a rare treat to have the birth chart of the victim and when I do have one, I like to see how it plays out against the events as they occurred. One would assume that an event of this kind of gravity would be a part of the karmic birth chart, would one not? Right away, I note that she was a Capricorn with the Moon Cancer. Solar Capricorns are hard workers who love money and security so it is likely true that she was ready to get a job, even at her young age. Moon in Cancer usually has strong ties to the mother and usually becomes a mother as well. If she lived for any time at all after her abduction, it is possible she had children. They may have been taken from her and adopted or sold but none the less, it is likely she had children. This is especially true with the Moon trine Mars in Pisces. Venus in Sagittarius square to Mars in Pisces would give an adventurous, interesting life with many travels and changes. Mars in Pisces gives someone sensitive and creative but also easy going and willing so that they "go with the flow". Very changeable this girl with a love for new experiences. Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus in Virgo gave her a degree of sensibility and carefulness. Pluto and Uranus are trine to her Sun, so she is probably rather conservative in her views and could be attached to the church. However, that would be sure to change through the chaos of her life, which promises to be substantial. In other words, it is not unreasonable for this girl to have been exposed to some upheaval and disaster in her life but I just would have thought it to be more beneficial that it appears to have been for her, with Pluto and Uranus both trine to her Sun.

When you don't have the birth time, as I don't for Emanuela, you have to work with a solar chart. I have found solar charts to be very useful in most cases, even when using the solar houses. I have found that both the solar houses and the natal houses have some degree of relevance when reading the birth charts. Sometimes when the natal chart does not seem to give answers, these can be found in the solar. But please remember that we only have half the charts we would normally consider when analysing the charts as given. In considering the solar chart, I want to point out a few things about Emanuela. Her Mars in Pisces and Mercury in Aquarius are moving through her solar first house, right behind the Sun. This would have made her very outspoken and opinionated and not afraid to get into a verbal argument. She would have been physically active but in the graceful activities, such as dancing, swimming or acting, rather than in sports like running or playing tennis. She would have been very bright and intellectual but horribly stubborn in her beliefs. Mars in Pisces opposite Jupiter would make her so sure of herself that should would not brook interference from others and went about doing as she wanted. A forceful will and a absolutely certainty that she was doing the right thing. This is most likely why she never discussed the "Avon job" with her family, which is what many kids would do first. At thirteen, this girl had taken charge of her life and she was hard to control.

In comparing Emanuela's solar chart with the event chart, I do not get a lot of hits. For instance, although her Moon in Cancer is in the tenth house of the event chart (1:30 pm, which I believe is around the time she was taken), it makes no aspect. So although she was probably highly visible at that time, there was nothing pointing to her in particular, no motivation to focus on her. Her Sun in Capricorn makes no important aspects at all, except a square from transiting Saturn, which is a fairly rare aspect but does not imply danger of any kind on it's own. At the time of the abduction, none of her birth planets are in the first house, although her Moon in Cancer is in the tenth and her Sun in Capricorn is in the fourth. This, again, works with the chart markers in saying that she was chosen because she was familiar to them from the neighborhood. They had "seen her" (tenth house) in the "local area" (fourth house). There is one thing worth pointing out and that is that her natal Neptune in Scorpio crosses paths with the transiting Moon during this event. This leads me to believe that a lot about this case is hidden, even from the charts, and will remain so. Sort of a "sealed fate" aspect that can't be challenged and, interestingly enough, works with the aspects to and from the North Node.   

There are a few more things I'd like to point out in light of the variable testimonies given in this case. Pluto's positions in both the birth and event charts point to upheaval, chaos and even revolution, and this is very curious in this case where terrorists use this child as blackmail. Whether or not they actually had possession of her is questionable, at least to me, where I see so many sexual aspects in the chart. These sexual aspects work well with the claims made by the Priest. But you still cannot set aside the threats and insinuations made by the terrorists who, if they did not actually have the girl, must have known who did. Also, another point I can't resist making is the North Node in Aries. This is the mark of the rugged individualist, the person who "strikes out on their own", who "makes their own way" in life. It is a karmic point for those who have been married many times in their past lives and, in this current life, are learning to make a go of it on their own. It is very unusual for someone only 13 years of age to reach the apex of their Node experience and fulfill it this way. But it is not impossible. The stories of her running off to make her own way, changing her name and taking on a life she creates for herself far from her family is not that far afield from the karmic mission of the Aries North Node. So this leaves me with even more questions. Which of these stories are really the truth and could it be that they all are? Like I said, this is a mystery worthy of Sherlock Holmes himself.

As fate would have it, the transiting Sun at the time of this event was closing in on a conjunction to the girls' Sun. This would make her famous in Vatican City and carry her story far and wide on the whimsical fancy of the public interest. This case struck an emotional chord with many people throughout the world and the media latched on to that. She became "tabloid" fodder. In the last chart I drew for this event, shown below, I want to see what happens to her before the day ends. You can see in the chart for midnight that both the first house ruler, Neptune, and the chart co ruler, the Moon, are together in the tenth house in the sign Sagittarius. This with Sagittarius on the tenth house cusp and Jupiter in the ninth. She is still in that church. There is no death pattern or other signs of coming violence. Just this girl, all alone, in a place in this church. The tenth house ruler, Neptune, conjoined to the planet Uranus, indicates that this was unusual. It was not a usual practice to bring girls to the church and keep them there for any period of time, even if not long. Mercury rules the fourth house and this will show us the girls family home. Mercury is placed in the third, not far from the cusp of the fourth, showing us that this church is not far from the front door (nadir) of her own home; it is in her own "neighborhood" (third house).   

Taking the placements apart even further, I see that Mercury rules both the seventh and the fourth house, so the person or persons who took her were from the same area, as already pointed out, and probably lived in the church, as well. Looking at this right now, I am also entertaining the possibility that she was taken by a single Priest and kept for sex in private and that no one else knew this. Perhaps it is even the Priest who is now blaming the Vatican Police for "sex parties". And perhaps, if this were the case, the terrorist group was only bluffing- although that seems unlikely to me, seeing that they knew so much they should not have, such as the Avon job thing and her flute playing. Perhaps the Priest who took her was involved with the terrorist group who was trying to kill the Pope? All I can say is that this plot is very thick and just gets thicker. So, still considering the location where she was taken, I can add this. Mercury is in Gemini in the third house so she is kept in a movable location, such as in the trunk of the car, in a trailer on the church property or in a separate part of the church. If the church were to have two separate buildings, as many of them do, she would be in a different building rather than the church, itself.

And although I realize that churches all have bibles and other writings of their religion, this one would have a library. This Priest would love to write and have the tools of that craft such as paper, pens. notebooks, binders, etc.. laying about. This Priest may have even written books or dissertations on or about the church and the Catholic religion. Among the markers on the church grounds, there may have been a beehive, a garage with two vehicles, bags of grains in storage for future use and the Priest may have had a pet parrot or a dog. The Priest might also have played tennis, badminton or golf as a leisure activity. There may have been a badminton or tennis court on the church property. Sections of the inside of the church may have been wallpapered, especially in the library or in the areas where dry goods were stored. The place where Emanuela was held or kept, whether for a long time or just for overnight, would have been separate from the church itself and in an area which had movable or transient qualities. This could mean a trailer or separate building or it could mean an area with lots of hallways and cross-sections, such as an "inner sanctum", which I think that many of the older churches did have. Venus rules the third house from the sixth house in the sign Leo. This girl was also kept as a slave of sorts, doing chores and other work as well as serving as a whore. The sign Leo intimates a performance, of sorts. She would entertain these people; that would be a part of her duty as a servant, whether she remained in this church for a long period of time or was taken elsewhere.
